This month I was invited to the graduation ceremony of Belfast Met students celebrating the completion of their training programme that supports women back to work.
The fantastic women had completed 17 weeks of learning and 4 weeks of work placement, achieving their OCN Level 2 in Business Administration.
Lisa McCaul of Belfast Met. designed the programme to include wellbeing. I though this was so innovative for return to work programmes and I was delighted to create and deliver a workshop for them.

The 2.5 hour session included an inspiring informal introduction chat and a relaxing sound meditation.
The focus of the chat was about how to become a loyal friend to yourself by connecting to your inner Self-Worth. We talked about:
What self-worth is and what it is not.
How connecting to your self-worth can help overcome anxiety, procrastination and prevent burnout.
Why proper rest and relaxation are non-negotiable.
How sound can help the body and mind relax.
I shared a Take Away Technique of the Inner Smile for the women to use anytime and anyplace in their daily lives, particularly as they navigate going for interviews and starting their new jobs.
The women were very excited about trying a south bath. It was everyone's first experience, so I shared a little about the instruments and let them hear the sounds first to help put them at ease. By doing this they could relax more deeply during the session.
There's a really lovely cohesion that takes place in a shared experience of a group of friends. It's beautiful to witness.
Afterwards, we had some chocolate and the women shared what they felt, saw, heard, and experienced. We talked about how comfortable and relaxing they found it and which sounds they enjoyed the most.
I encouraged the women to make a relaxing playlist for bedtime and I shared some links to therapeutic sound recordings.
It was really lovely to have shared such a tender connection with the women and then to share in their graduation celebration. By incorporating wellbeing practices into their lives, along with their training, there's no doubt these women will go far!
In this video clip, I talk about how the therapeutic sound instruments are played to induce deep states of relaxation, that activate encourage coherence in the cells of the body.
Thank you to the women themselves, Lisa McCaul & Tracey Patterson of Belfast Met. College and Falls Road Women's Centre/Ionad Mhná na bhFál.
